Gattaca Server Quick Start

This guide will help you start using Gattaca Server as quickly as possible. For more detailed instructions, check the Gattaca Server documentation.

Picking a computer for run Gattaca Server on

Gattaca Server is not undemanding for system resources, please check the system requirements

Download package

You may download (save) Gattaca Server from site http://www.gattaca-server.com/geeos/en/download.html to your computer for future use.
(If your browser tries to display the file, instead of downloading it, then use "Save link as.." which you get when you right-click or shift-click the link.)

To save a file from the GeeOS Team's web site to your computer, you will need to follow these basic steps:

  1. Create a directory or folder on your computer to hold your downloaded files.
  2. Choose the file format - zip, exe and click on the download link.
  3. Save the file to a directory or folder on your computer.

Installation

TCP/IP is required for all computers,

This will run a standard installation. Follow the instructions on screen.

Network

Your server ideally needs to be connected to the Internet full time, and have a fixed IP address.
Internet connections should be direct, Gattaca server doesn't support modem connections.

DNS+Domain

If you has our domain name, set it into config file.

If You will use domain' email addreses, define MX records in DNS

Autorelay - forward to other mail server

Main default settings

Account "postmaster" should be created

DNSBL list is enabled

Following ports are :

Firewall (NAT)

If you have a firewall, you will need to make sure connections from the outside world to port 25 are allowed, otherwise Gattaca Server will not be able to receive email.
