Gattaca Server security is improved

Gattaca Server allows connect to mail box from any place in the Internet. It does by its more vulnerable to attempts of selection of the password, and reception of not authorized access to contents of a mail box. For prevention of a similar sort of attacks Gattaca Server on the one hand uses the list of the most used passwords, and demands, that the password would meet the certain requirements of complexity and does not allow to create the password for a mail box from this list or not adequating to criteria of complexity. Also Gattaca Server blocks access to a mail box if attempt of selection of the password is found out. If to a mail box start to select password Gattaca Server blocks access to this mail box for 25 minutes, from the moment of last attempt. Besides if with what or IP addresses 15 unsuccessful attempts to pick up the password to different mail boxes are accomplished, Gattaca Server blocks access for 25 minutes and this IP the address. Blocking will be removed after inactive 25 minutes - i.e. if the password selected 1 hour blocking will operate 1 hour and 25 minutes. Blocking would not affect real users of mailboxes. Gattaca Server stores list of IP addresses with successful authorization has been accomplished, and allow access to mailbox despite of blocking.

AntiRelay protection improved

In addition to authorization mechanism "POP3 before SMTP" added support of SMTP authorization.

Added support for protocol POPPASSD/EPASS

If your mail client supports this opportunity, you can change your POP3/SMTP, needlessly address to your administrator.

New Gattaca Server version supports technologies for AntiSPAM protecting (DNSBL and SPF). Use of the given technologies allows to reduce number of spam emails for 70-75 % or more.

Gattaca Mail Server uses DNSBL for marks incoming emails with label [AntiSPAM] in subject of the letter. Unfortunately email sent from free mailboxes or from the companies-partners can get in DNSBL lists if their mail servers have been used for dispatch of a spam, or the companies-partners are engaged in dispatch of a spam. In this case, if you will see, that any useful correspondence is blocked by DNSBL list, you can bring IP addresses of servers of the companies-partners or their e-mail addresses in the list of exceptions for DNSBL.

SPF filter is used for full blocking emails. Emails which does not pass SPF check most likely is a spam. This means that or the sender has incorrectly adjusted SPF record (that is very improbable), or has a case of a fake of the address of the sender (more probable case). A few domains have SPF records, but in due course their number will grow and SPF the filter all will be better and better block correspondence with the counterfeit address of the sender.

We recommend to adjust mail server agents used by you on a filtration of emails with a mark [AntiSPAM] to separate folder (for example Junk), or delete at once. In this case these emails will not mix with your usual mail. At presence of a free time and desire you can look through the correspondence filtered thus.

We shall continue work on our AntiSPAM filter. If it will appear to you insufficiently you can together with built in Gattaca Mail Server filter use one more, (we recommend to use filters based on Bayesian-algorithm). It will allow you to lift a level of filtration for even greater percent.
